Custom Build

I just finished this guitar for friend and longtime bandmate, Roland Delacruz. He wants to try a Charlie Christian style pickup in the neck position so with that and a couple of dimensions from instruments he likes we drew up the plans.
I wanted to try using segmented pieces of mesquite for the sides. Besides looking good it is an interesting way to construct a body from smaller dimension stock.
I designed the bridge to have full contact with the body. The individual saddles slide at an angle to change the height and each saddle assembly slides forward and backward for intonation.
The neck pickup is constructed like a P-90, with two bar magnets on either side of the bland, but with the 38 gauge wire used on Charlie Christian pickups. The bridge pickup uses the same size/style bobbin but is overwound (13k ohms) with Alnico 5 cylinder magnets.
